7 Habits of highly ineffective people

There is no doubt about it, negative persons lower your energy, put you down and make you dispirited and demotivated. The make you feel as if there is nothing good with the universe and everything is going down...

It makes perfect sense to stay away from a negative person. The question is how do you identify a negative person. Are there any typical characteristics of a negative person? Are there some habits that they regularly display.

Fortunately there are. Look out for the following habits. If the person you are interacting with displays any of these, run away from them as fast as possible.

1. They are judgemental: 'Nuance' is a word that is not in their dictionary. They are quick to judge people, most often negatively. Sentences like 'He is loser', 'She complains too much', 'He is fake' , 'He is a liar' etc comes very naturally. (Gosh, I am describing Trump). They do not care about the complexity of each individual. They don't care to go deeper and understand better before making any judgement.

2. They are fault finders: Finding faults comes easily for them. This along with being judgemental means that you are just one mistake away from being judged incompetent. They do not help you learn from your mistakes. They don't realize that people inherently want to do work well. For them, every mistake is 'attitude issue'. They never consider 'Knowledge issue' as a cause of bad performance.

3. They run away from what they fear rather than run towards what they want: Ineffective people keep moving from one place to another to avoid responsibilities. They never take ownership and take any task to completion. They are always running away from what they don't like rather than trying to identify and run towards what they want. Probably, they want to run away from responsibility.

4. They don't challenge assumptions: They do not ask the question, 'what if I am wrong' or analyze the data or information to find out 'why they are right'. The do not try to validate their decisions by evaluating the assumptions behind their thought process. They are binary. Their thoughts are cut and dry, either or...You are either with them or against them.

5. They talk first and think later: They are very quick to use harsh language and regret it later, if at all. They are reactive and speak whatever comes to their mind.

6. They decide slowly and reverse decisions quickly: Ineffective people are prone to do excessive analysis. They are very hesitant to take decision. They struggle with decision making and are afraid of the consequences of their decisions. Due to this they do not actively analyse the situation and come to the right decision. Many a time their decisions would have been made quickly but they are afraid of the next step vis. to implement the decisions. After a lot of thought, even when they take a decision,. they suffer from 'Buyers Remorse' and are quick to reverse their decisions.

7. They are no friend of theirs: Paradoxically, ineffective people know that they are ineffective and hate themselves for that. They are their worst critics. For them it is never 'I made A mistake', it is always 'I always make mistakes'. They are hypercritical about themselves.

That is it. If you see someone exhibit any of these characteristics, move away from them quickly, else they will bring you down to their levels very quickly.
